Money - While money is not the main reason you should stop drinking it is something that everyone worries about and have no doubt, alcoholism definitely eats away at your monthly budget. Drinking can also lead to other addictive habits such as gambling or smoking that will definitely cost you money; so, if you quit drinking you should be able to save a good bit of money that might come in handy right about now. While money doesn’t buy you happiness, it can give you peace of mind.

Family - Unfortunately many people become addicted to alcohol and, while many don’t react the same way after drinking, it can easily take over your life. If you have a family you might just find that you are spending more time with the bottle than with them and this is the road to ruin. Friends and families are the only things that give life its true value so please don’t let alcoholism ruin what you have. Children who live in homes where alcoholism is prevalent grow up to become problem drinkers. You can change the future for yourself and your family by abstaining from drinking and to consider alcoholism treatment

Health - Alcoholism destroys your liver and heart and plays a part in any number of other fatal diseases. Continued drinking causes long term health problems that, unfortunately, are not detected until it’s too late. Live longer, and alcoholism treatment options include non-alcoholic beer so you can have the taste but not the fatal consequences.

Stability - For many the state of alcoholism begins with a simple drink after work to calm the nerves. Unfortunately it’s a slippery slope and it is easy to get caught in the drinking game. For many one drink leads to two then four then sneaking a drink while at work then losing your job for drinking at work - it sounds like a stretch but happens more frequently than you know, and an alcoholism treatment program will make everything seem a lot clearer as stability is the focal point of such alcoholism programs.

No future - Once you fall into the loop of alcoholism it is easy for the alcohol to make your decisions for you at which point you are no longer actually living your life but living for the next drink; there is only one way out of this situation - alcoholism treatment programs! If your consumption of alcohol is under control and your family and friends have not been affected then please enjoy responsibly but please watch out for others who may not have the control you do.

Alcoholism treatment programs are available online and have helped many people leave the world of alcoholism, as expert health advice is the best way to treat alcoholism. How To Deal With An Alcoholic And Ways To Stop Someone From Drinking Alcohol Excessively

Categorized Under: Discussing Alcoholics

StopIf you, or others, believe you are drinking too much you can easily improve your life and health by cutting down on your alcohol consumption. What exactly entails drinking too much? Read these questions and answer “yes” or “no”:-

When you feel angry or sad do you drink alone? Does your drinking ever make you late for work? Does your family consider your drinking excessive? Do you ever drink after telling yourself you won’t? Do you ever forget what you did while you were drinking? Do you often have a hang-over or get headaches after you have been drinking?

You may have a drinking problem if you answered “yes” to any of these questions. You can always check with your medical doctor to be sure if you have any questions. Your doctor will be able to tell you whether you should cut down or completely abstain. If you have medical problems related to your alcohol consumption, you should not just cut down on your drinking–you should stop drinking completely. Your doctor will advise you about what is right for you.

Here are some steps can help you if your doctor tells you to cut down on your drinking:

1. Write down the reasons you wish to cut down or stop.
Why do you want to drink less? There may be a number of reasons why you want to cut down or stop drinking. The reasons may be to improve your health, sleep better, or get along better with your family or friends. Make a list of all the reasons why you want to drink less.

2. Set a goal of how much you will drink.
Decide, before you begin drinking, on a limit for how much you will drink. You may decide to cut down or not to drink at all. If you are cutting down, keep below these limits:

Women: No more than one drink a day.
Men: No more than two alcoholic drinks per day.

A drink is:

one 12-ounce bottle of beer; one 5-ounce glass of wine; or one 1 1/2-ounce shot of liquor. If you have certain medical problems these limits may be too high. Talk with your doctor and decide on a limit that is right for you.

Now–write your drinking goal on a piece of paper. Put it where you can see it, such as on your refrigerator or bathroom mirror.

Categorized Under: Quitting Alcohol

StopThere is no doubt that alcohol alters the way we behave; while sober we may react with a rational thought process however when we are under the influence of alcohol rational thinking sometimes goes out the window. While alcohol is directly responsible for the changes in the brain it does not affect everyone in the same way.

Drinking becomes dangerous when alcohol inhibits your ability to control your temper while under the influence and if you find yourself becoming unreasonably angry while drinking you should seek help to prevent alcohol rage.

It should be obvious that the situation can become increasingly dangerous the when alcohol continues to be consumed and the potential for aggression increases.

Daily we see news accounts of domestic violence that turns deadly. More often than not alcohol has played a part in provoking the anger and aggression that turns fatal. For women and children who live with a person who experiences rage when drinking fearing for their lives becomes a daily experience.

Obviously I am bringing up some of the most severe cases; however they are well worth acknowledging. Alcohol often plays a part in the destruction of families as the alcoholic will disregard the needs of the family for the need of a drink.

Fear destroys not only families but individuals as well and should be eliminated immediately. If you, or someone you know, experiences alcoholic rages or other signs that their drinking is out of control, find support immediately.

Stop Drinking Advice has a vast network of online support and can help you or your loved one who is experiencing alcoholism or problems associated with drinking quit drinking once and for all.

How To Stop Alcohol Addiction

No Commented

Categorized Under: Stop Drinking

StopBefore we can look at a cure we need to recognize what, exactly, alcohol is and how it affects us mentally, physically and spiritually. I bring spirituality into it for those of us who believe in something greater than ourselves, like a Creator or God. Now, if you don’t have a spiritual side you might have a difficult time understanding the control that alcohol has over us when we rely on it to ease the pain of life’s travails.

For most people “alcohol” is connected to a variety of activities that people engage in such as gambling, drugs or other substances; however, the one common factor in all these items is that they are all addictive. And in the end, it is the addiction that will destroy us as it prevents us from recognizing the damage that is occurring around us while we are giving in to it.

Since I recognize that not everyone is spiritual I will try to present my point of view from a purely intellectual point. Everyone has an inner voice that guides us in our decision making process and it is up to us to listen to the voices that guide us to the right decisions; there is no doubt in my mind that if you believe in something greater than yourself you are a step closer to getting rid of the addictions that are in your life.

If you desire to quit there are a variety of support groups available, both religious and non, that can help you through the difficult times ahead. If you have found a support group already then I congratulate you on making the right decision and hope you find the comfort and support that you desire.

If you are addicted to alcohol and need help quitting then you can count on me as a supporter as well as an entire group of others who have been through what you are going through. Believe in yourself, and if you have faith that there is a superior being, then you can call on that as well.

Don’t be afraid to change your life and let others know of your decision but if you want to tackle the problem privately then please know you can count on me, Ed Philips, to help you on the path to understanding what alcohol is and how you can stop the addiction today.
