You might think that there is no way in hell that you can quit drinking, but yes you really can make it. You can beat all those incredible frustrations and insults that alcohol has made you face up to. So go ahead and sell all those bottles and go straight to the “One Dollar Shop” and get a couple of Coffee mugs instead. They look a lot more desirable than those poison alcohol bottles do.

Relapse is always staring at you right in the face; You may be sensitized by the glamor of the bottle in the commercials, your friends partying around, and you may be tempted to go back again. It is a common happening. Many people fall back at least twice in relapse in their attempt to quit drinking. Be strong willed. Be clear that you are going to quit and don’t falter from that idea! Imagine if you go on like this your parents will very soon run short of funds for their medical insurance, your wife will have to work part-time or full-time to make ends meet; your children may have to leave their private school education… Basically things can go wrong very quickly!!!

You may be sacked for nonperformance by your employer. You may develop a low self-esteem. The credit bureau may be behind you. You may loose all your valid social proof to get a personal loan, car loan, home loan. Can you imagine living without money or without a source of income, hungry stomach! Gosh! You better don’t be tempted.

Nobody will laugh at you over your decision to quit drinking. They will support you and care for you more. Communicate to others that you have decided to quit drinking. Tell your friends, love, spouse that you are going to quit drinking. Get tips from them on how to quit drinking.

Beware!!! Quitting alcohol can kill, so make sure you seek professional help. Contact your physician for any medication. This indeed can help you be serious and strong willed towards quitting alcohol, and professional help really is the best possible way out. Your doctor will be experienced to analyze your real motives to quit drinking. Chronic drinkers may experience withdrawal symptoms, which does require professional help.

It is a common happening that many alcoholics just avoid the idea of quitting alcohol. Having failed multiple attempts you might be ashamed to declare time and time again that you are going to quit drinking. Alcoholic Anonymous is a very good solution if your have faced any of these barriers. The people at AA will help you; motivate you, to quit drinking. All you need to do is register with them and declare you want to quit. The rest is assured. They are behind you! You will be so surprised just how much they care about your sobriety even more so than your do.

You can see it really is a steep climb to achieving the goal of an alcohol free life, but with the support of the people you love around you, that goal soon becomes a reality. Believing in yourself is half the battle too, so make the final decision today and quit drinking for good.

There are quite a lot of different treatments that deal with the problems related with alcohol addiction. The treatments available for such problems can be put into the following categories…medication to reduce withdrawal symptoms and stop alcohol cravings, professional counseling to support relationship issues and education and Alcohol Addiction Help.

The previously mentioned methods are normally the ones that are recommended although a new drug has just come onto the market called chemical Revia [formerly Trexan], Vivitrolnaltrexone. This drug is normally administered by the form of an injection about once a month , but it is also available now as a pill.

The way Naltrexone works is by confusing the part of the brain that is responsible for making us feel good while under the influence of alcohol or other drugs. It basically numbs the pleasure effect that alcohol gives us and can be either taken on its own or as a combination drug with other alcohol dependence drugs.

To be most effective in treating alcoholism Naltrexone works in conjunction with counseling. Most studies show that Naltrexone significantly reduces your chances for relapse after you have stopped drinking.

Unfortunately this drug is not always 100% effective especially on certain men who have suffered from alcohol dependence big time or over a long period of time. Naltrexone is no different to any other drug and can cause side effects like fatigue, dizziness and nausea and it can even make you feel nervous, sleepy or anxious.

If you need alcohol addiction help or you know someone he does then make sure that a doctor is consulted before taking this or any other drug. Remember that alcohol is the only addiction drug that can actually kill you by giving it up, so I would like to one again reiterate the point that you need to visit your doctor beforehand to get the necessary initial Alcohol Addiction help.

Alcohol Addiction develops in three stages. This disease can take many years to develop into a full blown addiction. Alcohol Addiction begins when the drinker’s physical and mental health become affected and ruled by alcohol. At this point they have gone from the stage of just social drinking to alcoholism.

In the early stages of alcoholism the drinker has started to drink for new reasons. They drink to change their mood or maybe to help daily stress or a problem. At this point friends and family don’t know he or she has become an alcoholic. Chances are neither does the drinker.

In the intermediate stage the drinker no longer needs a reason to drink. They may even fabricate reasons to drink. He or she is now drinking way over socially acceptable limits, until they reach a loss of control point or blackout. The drinker may have a DUI. Family and friends are now aware that there is a problem and the drinker gets angry when alcohol abuse is mentioned. The drinker thinks he or she can stop drinking anytime they want to. This is no longer the case. They will say “I will never drink again!” and sincerely mean it. They are shocked to find that when they stop, the cravings for alcohol are all but unbearable.

The advanced stages of alcoholism include friends and family of the alcoholic being appalled at the self destruction the drinker is engaging in. There is damage to internal organs, and the body and mind is slipping away. Anyone who tries to talk the drinker into quitting is wasting his time. These efforts are falling on deaf ears.

At this point it is going to take a catastrophic event to get the alcoholic to decide he or she really wants to stop drinking. At this advanced stage when the drinker makes a sincere attempt to stop drinking, he or she will find out that the addiction has completely taken hold, and there will be extreme withdrawal symptoms.

Addiction to alcohol is one of the hardest battles a person will face. While many alcoholics can beat their addictions, some cannot stop drinking no matter how hard they try. Alcohol is a powerful thing that is difficult to overcome, but remember that it can be done. Never stop reaching for a future that is free from alcohol and its accompanying problems.

For anybody who is reading this information, it’s because you need tips about How To Treat An Alcoholic. Let us get things clear from the beginning, that treating an alcoholic depends solely on their own determination to succeed as well as good old perseverance. Your task will be to start the ball rolling, and stick by your associate or relative, whilst they experience the side effects of giving up alcohol. Stick with me now and you will shortly understand exactly how you can aid an alcoholic stop consuming alcohol on their own…

It is not necessary that a man or women attends meetings at Alcoholics Anonymous or join a rehabilitation center to stop incessant alcohol consumption. Consuming alcohol was an addiction that gets into a person due to their own personal will, and on the whole virtually all alcoholics give themselves excuses for seeking comfort in alcoholic beverages. In this exact manner, an alcoholic can certainly give up consuming alcohol by themselves - Just by will power. Many web sites allocate tips on “how to quit alcohol consumption on your own”. Let us become clear about this - no number of attending group meetings at the neighborhood AA or infinite sessions and treatment at rehabilitation can help an alcoholic quit the practice of drinking unless they realize the need to do so and possess the determination and will power to overcome the terrible urges.

The steps below expand on how to cease alcohol consumption by yourself, and will create the ground rules in starting to treat an alcoholic;-

1) An alcoholic needs to clear away all liquor bottles wherever they might be stashed - This includes at work, at home, gymnasium locker etc.

2) He/she should Shun all forms of alcoholic drink and make family and friends aware that they’re abstaining from alcohol.

3) They should avoid contact with their alcohol consumption buddies. They are the ones who will be the persistent reminder of this prevailing union with alcohol and it’s far better to cut off contact from these individuals until the alcoholic senses and urges are under control.

4) Prevent alcoholics from going to pubs and discotheques with bars. Rather head for entertainment such as recreational areas, movie channels, athletics and family events in which liquor isn’t present. That includes going to parties which serve liquor without having their family member or buddy who is aware of their decision to abstain from alcohol. If an alcoholic has the obligation to attend, then make sure the watchdog stays with them all the way through the party and is prepared to stop them from consuming liquor.

This isn’t as easy as it seems but when an alcoholic has the will and perseverance, their particular battle is half won. Now you may wonder if shunning their buddies for the sake of booze may drive them away. Remember that true friends and relationships will just be over the moon about them having made the right choice and will support them all the way.

Additional steps you can take to help keep their mind off alcohol include getting involved in local initiatives which will maintain them occupied. If their work life is too tense, they are going to be tempted to taste alcoholic beverages. Instead, an alcoholic needs to decrease their work load stress or even volunteer for community projects as a diversion. Starting yoga exercises, exercise at the health club or even meditation classes will even aid an alcoholic a lot to decrease stress levels.

An alcoholic should consult their doctor before attempting total abstinence. People sometimes experience alcoholic withdrawal symptoms that may even end up being life threatening. For that reason, ensure the alcoholic knows what to expect beforehand, and also about the risks of carrying on alcohol consumption, so a trip to the doctor will take care of these factors.

A recent medical study proves that women who consume moderate amounts of alcohol greatly increase their risk of being stricken with a variety of types of cancer.

During routine visits to a variety of breast cancer screening clinics thousands of middle-aged women were quizzed about their consumption of alcohol over the past seven years.

Of those questioned a quarter said they did not use any alcohol during the time in question while the majority confessed to fewer than three drinks per day. For the purposes of the study the control group was comprised of women who had two or fewer drinks per week compared with those who acknowledged drinking daily in larger amounts.

Research groups from the University of Oxford in England conducted the study and found that those who drank alcohol regularly had higher chances of contracting breast, liver and rectal cancer.

It made no difference which type of alcohol was consumed, whether it was wine, liquor or beer. Earlier medical researchers found that copious amounts of alcohol consumption were linked to esophageal and oral cancers, but only when smokers consumed alcohol, and this study confirms those earlier results.

A contrasting study found that women who drank in moderation had a reduced risk of thyroid cancer, renal cell cancer and non-Hodgkin lymphoma; however these results are atypical given that women, as a general rule, have a lower risk of contracting these types of cancer as opposed to men.

Astonishingly approximately 118 out of every 1,000 women in developed countries will contract one or more of these cancers; however for those women who drink 4 or more glasses of alcohol daily the risk went to 133 out of 1000 stricken.

The group concluded that 13% of the cancers mentioned had been linked or related to the consumption of alcohol. The obvious warning that we all should take from this is that women who drink alcoholic beverages are increasing their risks of cancer, even if they drink in moderation.

If these results opened your eyes and you desire to stop drinking alcohol there are a variety of online groups that provide advice and support. At these sites you can find basic guidelines on how to help an alcoholic achieve a life free of alcohol as well as other vital information to eradicate alcohol from an alcoholics life.

If you are an alcoholic, it is time to start thing about the people living or working with you, as you are probably making their life like hell, so take note of the following advice to quit alcohol.

If you are a heavy drinker, one that has embarrassed your friends and especially the family you live with on more than one occasion due to your over consumption of alcohol, then it’s time to think about quitting. Instead of relying on a professional or an assistance program like Alcoholics Anonymous), by applying certain behaviors to your everyday life, you can quit all on your own. Here are some tips for getting sober:

When coming home from work, you may feel inclined to stop along the way be it at the grocery store or a bar for a quick drink. By going straight home, you will avoid the temptation of purchasing alcohol at the store and the bar. Once home, you probably will feel less inclined to go back out again. When you do go to the store for groceries, make a habit of purchasing them all at once so you don’t have to run out multiple times thus lessening the urge to buy alcohol. Make a habit of going to places that don’t serve alcohol like a movie theater or ice skating rink. If you apply just some of these tips, your chances of avoiding drinking alcohol will lessen.

Make a habit of chewing gum or eating candy so you can keep your mind on something else. Eating a lot of fruit and foods that contain fructose will also keep you too busy to think about drinking alcohol; turn these into a sort of pastime so that you are giving up one habit (drinking) and taking on another.Working out is another way to keep your brain busy so that it doesn’t turn to the urge to take a drink. If you can’t go to the gym right after work, go home instead, put on your favorite music and away you go! Keep away from people that drink when and if you are in a social setting. Make sure you don’t frequent pubs or clubs with friends that insist on drinking. Your true friends will stand by you and support whatever decisions you make so don’t worry about losing them.

There are lots of places you can go besides a bar; coffee shops are popular as is Internet dating. Stay away from bars for at least a year and try these other alternatives. You will only end up in trouble if you start to go back to the familiar places where you once drank. Stay out of relationships (if not already in one) so that you can spend time on yourself. A relationship can take the focus away from you and distract you from your goal of staying sober. If you are already in a relationship that is destructive do everything you can to end it. These types of relationships carry a great deal of emotional baggage that can only serve to remind you to take a drink when times get tough.

Look into the various drugs now on the market that can help you with the cravings you will feel when you quit drinking. It is especially important to consider taking some of these medications if you have already completely stopped consuming alcohol. There is Antabuse which will make you very sensitive to alcohol should you decide to drink it. Naltrexone can be used to help you reduce your cravings for alcohol and Acamprostate will help bring your brain back to normal after you have drunk large amounts of alcohol for a long period of time.

Keep a diary of why you think you need to drink. Figure out why you feel the need to always turn to alcohol when things get tough in your life (and even when they do not). When you find out what the triggers are, you can then do everything possible to avoid them. Get rid of your guilt by forgiving yourself for all that you have done. The less guilt you have the less likely you will want to turn to alcohol. Take it another step further and seek out those you have harmed or offended and offer them your sincerest apologies.

Remember: you can only take your life one day at a time, one step at a time. Recognize that you may feel the urge to drink again at some point in your life but that this time around you have made the choice to be and remain sober. Get yourself into a routine of taking vitamins, especially vitamin B as it will help with stress. Vitamins in general will serve to replenish your body with all it lost while you were drinking. Your mind is a very powerful thing and you can quit drinking if you set your mind to it. All those around you will reap the benefits of having a sober and healthy friend, partner and family member. You too will reap these same rewards so get going and do it now, and reward those who are living with an alcoholic.

It is unfortunate how some people who are addicted to alcohol don’t find Alcoholism Treatment until it becomes too late and their health is at great risk. Typically they don’t recognize they have a problem until its too late. Those who suffer the most are the people directly related to the alcoholic, the family. It is human nature to learn through other peoples tragedies, usually we recognize something in our life through what we see in others; it is because of this theory that I want to share a story with you.

David Jones woke up one morning to find his wife comatose. Medical studies showed she didn’t have cancer or heart disease; however, she was severely depressed due to the fact that her children had recently moved away and she felt lonely and worthless.

Like many men, David was not a very good listener. Unfortunately he never recognized the fact that his wife was severely depressed and, in fact, had distanced himself from her. Because of these feelings Mrs Jones attempted to find comfort elsewhere, namely alcohol.

Why did she choose alcohol? Many depressed people look to alcohol as it makes them forget their problems, if only for a while. Unfortunately Mrs Jones drank heavily for 21 days until one morning she fell into a coma. Once they became aware of her situation her family focused mainly on getting her to quit drinking and never tackled the underlying problem. Like many who are in the same situation Mrs Jones believed that without the help of alcohol she would return to a life that was unbearable.

Upon being discharged from the hospital her husband was given the job of keeping her away from alcohol. Without alcohol to help her she was contemplating suicide until one morning when she received a phone call. It was her daughter Brittany with some good news. She was pregnant and had decided to move home as they would need her help with the other grandchildren. With her life suddenly turned upside down she found that there was reason to live. Even though she had to wait several months for their return, she was a new women.

The reason I told this story was twofold. Alcohol is not a solution to depression and if you do know an alcoholic personally, ask them what the matter is and act accordingly. Even if you can get their problem met half way with the right alcoholism treatment, you could prevent a tragic end.

For anyone who drinks heavily there comes a time in your life where you will either decide to quit or face a life situation where you must quit. Regardless of why you quit it is a life changing decision and I want to show you the best ways for any Alcoholism Treatment to help anyone stay away from the booze.

Financial stress is one of the most common reasons why people begin to drink. In order to deal with the financial stress we often need to give up items that we place a great importance on and what I want to do is talk about those things that are, in fact, really important. Across the board what is really important in life is family and having our basic needs met, regrettably for the alcoholic the bottle takes first place. Making a change in your lifestyle is where you must begin and with determination and willpower you will begin to feel as if you have a second lease on life.

The first morning after your decision to quit will be the worse than any hangover you have had. Depending on how much you regularly drink you may be going through detoxification and you might feel very sick, however this is very normal and plan on staying in bed until you feel like you can get up and face the world. Exercise will definitely help you begin to feel better. I would even recommend you get a pet as it will give you a reason to exercise as well as giving you a sense of responsibility.

I hope you will recognize that this is feasible. It won’t be an easy path however each day free of alcohol is one day closer to a better life. Remember what is important in life and avoid falling into the high life trap that only leads back to alcohol and other addictions.

Become someone you like again and take this time to do some research using the Internet and expand your horizons. When you beat this disease you will take each day as the blessing that it is. I know you can do this because I did and now I will do everything in my power to help people to stop drinking as I know it can be achieved in no time at all.

Walking into your first Alcoholics Anonymous meeting will be one of the most difficult things you will do on your road to recovery and there is no way you can be prepared for your first experience as everyone’s feelings are different.

Without a doubt when you walk into your first AA meeting you can expect to feel humbled by the stories from other survivors of alcoholism. You will find people from all walks of life in these meetings and each and every one of them has gone what you have gone through when attempting to conquer this disease and find a place where they can be happy without relying on the bottle.

Apprehension and unease are expected at your first meeting however after attending a few you will begin to feel a part of the group and feel accepted by the other members; if this does not occur you shouldn’t feel bad about trying to find a meeting where you do feel comfortable because it is through these meetings where you will find the support that will help you stay alcohol free.

Most large cities have any number of AA meeting sites and you should be able to easily find one where you can fit in; their success comes from understanding how to help anyone who is going through this disease, regardless of who they are and what their situation is.

Sadly statistics show that if you first attempt at quitting isn’t successful you future attempts will have an even smaller chance of success so it is vital that you use whatever help is at your disposal, including medical.

Millions of people die each year due to alcohol related diseases. Even knowing these statistics people continue to drink and put their life at risk. If you want to quit there is help is available and going to an AA meeting is as good as it gets. The feeling of oneness between alcoholics is remarkable and actually transforms an alcoholics personality to such a degree that people often don’t recognize them as being the same person.

If you know somebody that needs help, please make sure they do get the Online AA Support and help they need to successfully stop drinking alcohol and prevent them from just becoming another dreadful alcohol related statistic.

Specialized alcoholics support can be 100% anonymous too, so don’t hold back if you are too shy to reveal your bad habit to the rest of the world. You are just one step away from getting alcohol out of your life for ever…
